Puppies whelp after approximately 63 days from fertilization. They are born with their eyes closed. For the first two weeks of life it is important that the new puppies stay warm at a temperature around 90 degrees and nurse approximately every 1 to 2 hours. This is critical for sustaining the young lives of the newborns. Every other day the temperature requirements for the newborn pups decreases gradually as their little bodies slowly adjust to the environment.

Around week two of age the siberian husky puppies open their eyes. At this time they are just learning to walk. Siberian husky puppies are cute, tiny little butterballs at this age but their characteristic erect ears are not yet poised in their regal pose, only becoming more erect around their second month of age.
